MEETING OF ECOWAS MARITIME SECURITY ARCHITECTURE STAKEHOLDERS ABIDJAN,

8-10 June 2022

The ECOWAS Integrated Maritime Strategy (EIMS) anchored on five Strategic Pillars, has recorded significant progress, notably on strengthening Maritime Governance.

The general objective of the meeting is to strengthen coordination among various maritime stakeholders with a view to enhancing the full operationalisation of the ECOWAS Maritime Security Architecture. PESCAO (Technical assistance, FCWC, and SRFC), expected to contribute to strengthening ties between the Yaoundé architecture (CRESMAO- PESCAO/ DARD, and the RFBs), will share its experience on coordination and communication and visibility activities (e.g., policy briefs, newsletter, and joint patrol inspection to fight Illegal fishing).


In the view of ensuring robust inter-ministerial representation, participants include a mix of mid and high-level government officials, military and civilians with vast experience, expertise in the maritime Domain and ECOWAS Maritime Centers, and Member States, SWAIMS and PESCAO.
