ECOWAS Representative Offices Working Session: Vendor Accounts and Inter-Offices Reconciliation

 




The Directorate of Financial Reporting & Grants under the Department of Internal Services of the ECOWAS Commission, responsible for producing timely periodic and year-end accurate financial reports in formats compliant with the ECOWAS Financial Regulation and International Reporting requirements, is organizing from 19th – 23rd August 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria an Inter-Offices Working session with financial services staff from the ECOWAS Representative Offices.

 

The main objective of this meeting is to perform inter-office reconciliations, clear long outstanding advances, and to bring the books and records relating to the Offices up to date.

This Important working meeting will also permit  to the Finance Directorate to collaborate on constructive dialogues with  the representative offices to address some specific objectives such as Inter-office reconciliations, monthly reconciliation via (financial reporting) template, analysis of monthly schedule of Inter-office and vendor accounts and offices, obtain and reconcile bank statements monthly, and a submission of monthly reconciled and bank statements to the commission, regularization of advances, practical discussions on issues raised in past audits, action plan to ensure closing processes and reconciliations of all accounts are seamless in the future.

 

In her remarks, Mrs. Arroua Viviane FAYS on behalf of the Director Financial Reporting and Grants of the ECOWAS Commission Mr. Ahmadou Oury BALDE Director, wished collaborative sessions to all participants and sharing of experiences, to facilitate reconciliation work and to harmonize good accounting and financial practices in ECOWAS representative offices. She also mentioned that the Directorate of Financial Reporting & Grants will continue its actions and efforts to harmonize the financial statements with the ECOWAS representatives offices in order to assist ECOWAS in achieving the 2050 Vision.

 

The end of these working sessions is scheduled for Friday August 23, 2024.
