Updated: Apr 9

The main goal of the workshop is to ensure that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) updates its Information Technology (IT) policies and procedures to align with global best practices and meet the evolving needs of the digital landscape.

The new ECOWAS IT policy will focus on key areas, including:

- Acceptable Use of IT Resources: Defining guidelines for the appropriate use of IT resources within ECOWAS.

- Security Measures: Implementing robust security protocols to protect ECOWAS's information systems and data.

- Data Management: Establishing procedures for the effective management and protection of ECOWAS's data.

- Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Requirements: Ensuring that ECOWAS's IT policies and procedures comply with relevant laws and regulations.

- Employee Responsibilities: Defining the roles and responsibilities of ECOWAS employees in relation to IT usage and security.

The workshop, attended by sectoral directors, experts, and IT managers from ECOWAS Institutions and Specialised Agencies, aims to study and adopt a manual of IT policies and procedures, assess the draft data protection policy, and develop new standard operating procedures
